Arriving at OMO7 Asahikawa by Hoshino Resorts felt like stepping into a classic Hokkaido winter postcard. The striking red brick façade, lightly dusted with fresh snow, creates an elegant first impression that is both timeless and inviting.
As snowflakes drifted quietly around us, the hotel had a cosy yet refined atmosphere that instantly made us feel at ease.
One feature that really stood out was the expansive driveway, which makes arriving by car or taxi effortless. It's also equipped with three electric vehicle charging stations, a thoughtful addition for guests exploring Hokkaido by road.
Combined with the generous covered entrance and beautifully preserved architecture, the hotel delivers a warm welcome before you've even stepped inside.

Stepping into the lobby of OMO7 Asahikawa instantly put a smile on my face. Instead of a traditional hotel entrance, you're welcomed by adorable oversized polar bear plush toys, snowy forest displays and playful winter-inspired décor that perfectly captures the spirit of Hokkaido. It feels more like checking into a cosy mountain lodge than a city hotel. The lobby itself is spacious, beautifully designed and filled with comfortable seating areas where guests can relax after a day on the slopes.
One feature I absolutely loved was the live snowfall information board, which displays current snow conditions and snowfall totals across the region's ski resorts. It's incredibly useful if you're planning where to ski or snowboard the next day, and it really reinforces OMO7's reputation as one of the best hotels for winter sports in the Asahikawa area. The hotel also has a ski bus ticket counter, where the concierge can help organise bus tickets and transport to many of the surrounding ski resorts, making it incredibly easy even if you don't have a car.
The atmosphere becomes even more lively each evening with daily family-friendly activities, including fun games and trivia sessions for kids, creating a warm community feel that's unique for a hotel. Check-in was equally impressive, with the choice of quick self-service kiosks or friendly staff who were happy to assist. From the playful polar bears to the thoughtful ski services and welcoming atmosphere, OMO7 Asahikawa immediately felt like much more than just a place to stay.

Our Twin Room struck a nice balance between comfort and practicality, especially for a ski holiday. The room features a loft-style layout, with the sleeping area flowing into a cosy raised lounge complete with an L-shaped sofa and small coffee table. It was the perfect spot to unwind after a full day exploring Asahikawa or hitting the slopes.
One thoughtful feature we really appreciated was the no shoes policy inside the room. Slippers are provided at the entrance, and guests are asked to leave their shoes behind before stepping onto the carpeted area. Considering most visitors return with snow-covered boots or ski gear, it makes perfect sense and helps keep the room clean and comfortable throughout your stay.
The twin beds were generously sized and easily accommodated two adults, while the room also included all the essentials such as a mini fridge, kettle, air purifier and complimentary amenities. The bathroom is fairly standard by Japanese hotel standards, featuring a shower over bath, bidet toilet and a full set of toiletries including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. While it's not the most luxurious room you'll find in Hokkaido, it's warm, functional and thoughtfully designed, making it an excellent base for a winter getaway.

One of the highlights of staying at OMO7 Asahikawa is undoubtedly the breakfast buffet. Served in the hotel's stunning double-height restaurant, the space is flooded with natural light from floor to ceiling windows overlooking the snowy landscape outside. Combined with warm timber furnishings, elegant lighting and a cosy winter atmosphere, it's a beautiful place to start the day.
The buffet offers a generous selection of both Western and Japanese breakfast favourites. Freshly baked breads, buttery croissants and sweet pastries line one side of the buffet, alongside cereals, juices, coffee and fresh fruit. On the hot food station, you'll find eggs, sausages, soup and other breakfast staples, ensuring there's something for every taste.
What really sets OMO7 apart are its signature Hokkaido-inspired dishes. One standout is the DIY Seafood Mountain Wasabi Rice Bowl, where guests build their own bowl with fresh seafood, rice and mountain wasabi before finishing it with hot dashi broth for a comforting seafood ochazuke-style dish. It's simple, fresh and packed with local flavours.
Another must-try is the hotel's Salmon Waffle, a surprisingly delicious combination featuring a crisp waffle topped with smoked salmon, onions, creamy sauce and fresh greens. It's a unique twist on breakfast and one of the restaurant's signature creations that you won't commonly find elsewhere.
If you have a sweet tooth, the DIY waffle station is another favourite. Fresh waffles can be topped with whipped cream, yoghurt, seasonal fruits, jams and a variety of sauces, making it just as appealing for kids as it is for adults.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere is what makes breakfast here memorable. Watching the snow fall outside while enjoying a warm coffee and sampling Hokkaido's local produce creates a relaxed start to the morning before heading out to explore Asahikawa or the nearby ski resorts.
Overall, the breakfast at OMO7 Asahikawa is much more than a standard hotel buffet. With locally inspired dishes, interactive stations and a beautiful dining space, it's an experience worth including with your stay. If breakfast is available when booking, it's one upgrade I'd happily recommend.

My stay at OMO7 Asahikawa by Hoshino Resorts was a refreshing experience that perfectly captured Hokkaido's adventurous spirit. Whether it was the convenient ski rental shop, the dedicated waxing benches, or the relaxing onsen after a full day in the snow, every facility felt purposeful. The hotel's playful design, local character and relaxed atmosphere made it feel welcoming from the moment I arrived, while its location made exploring Asahikawa and nearby ski resorts incredibly easy.

Whether assisting with ski equipment, answering questions about the local area or helping guests around the hotel, the team always made the experience feel effortless. Even during busy periods, everything remained well organised, creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

The guest rooms offer a comfortable retreat after a long day outdoors. While designed with efficiency in mind, they never felt lacking in comfort. The beds were supportive, the room was spotless, and the layout made excellent use of the available space. It was the kind of room where you could easily relax, recharge and prepare for another day of exploring Hokkaido.

Breakfast offers an excellent variety of both local and international dishes, making it easy to fuel up before heading out for the day. The selection changes enough to keep things interesting, with plenty of Hokkaido flavours alongside familiar favourites. Everything was fresh, well presented and consistently enjoyable throughout my stay.
